Life Unexpected

While in the process of getting my books ready for publishing, I built up an idea in my head of what my life would be like once they were released.  Fast forward about 6 months and I can tell you that my life is not what I pictured.  It’s better.

Life Unexpected

I was hoping for book sales and pictured myself doing a lot of marketing, booking signings and more writing (really need to finish the next book).  That has all happened, but I never could’ve imagined what else followed.  I knew I wanted to go to some schools and talk to the kids and introduce my book series, but I’ve been humbled and amazed at what has came of that.  I’m able to do what I’ve always wanted to do and that’s inspire the world, one child at a time.  I get to see their eyes light up and their smiles grow as I listen to what their dreams are and tell them the secrets on how to achieve them.  I get to feel the power of what I actually accomplished in those short 30 minutes when kids run up to me after and proudly announce that when they grow up, they want to be Authors, just like me.

I can’t express the feeling I get when the kids tell me how much they love these books.  I wanted to create a series that kids would love that encouraged reading, but so far, this series has encouraged much more.  This books have inspired kids to turn to their imaginations to have fun.  This was what The Amazing Adventures of Abigail Andrews is all about.  Abby is a little girl with a big imagination, who turns sticks into powerful swords and blocks into magical kingdoms.  As kids read these books, they are inspired to do the same thing.  When I visit the schools, I get to hear many stories about the imaginary adventures the kids have had when they put the technology down and just played; truly played.  That’s when I truly understand the power of these books.

In my new world, book sales don’t matter.  My favourite part of my new path is being able to inspire so many kids and be a role model.  I’ve always want to do that as soon as I watched my mother do the same as a teacher.  This is my chance.  I feel like I get to live two dreams in one and it doesn’t get better than that.

I’m taking this opportunity to tell you out there one thing: Anything can happen.  Are you listening?  It doesn’t matter how old you are or where you are in life.  Take chances. Work hard. Believe in yourself and go confidently in the direction of your dreams.

For me, it’s life unexpected, but it’s my life; my time.

Now are you listening?
