As many of you know, I’m on a mini book tour in Ontario and I can’t expain how amazing the experiences have been. I’ve had the opportunity to visit almost 1000 kids spread across ten different schools and recieve the warmest welcome possible. It makes missing my little Piper a lot better. My main goal in starting this journey wasn’t only to live my dreams, but to be a role model to my litte girl because let’s face it, her and my husband make me a better me. If I only knew what was ahead of me… knew that I’d end up being a role model to more than just her.
A lot of teachers and students that I’ve met in these last few week continued to tell me how lucky they were to have had the opportunity to meet me and hear me speak, but if they only knew; I’m really the lucky one. I get to see how excited the kids are with every shy smile and kind word. I get to hear about their dreams and powerful imaginations. Just when I think that my heart is full enough, a child will come to me with their eyes lit up with amazing aspirations and say, “I want to be an Author, just like you!”. It’s moments like these that will actually make an Author be at a loss for words.
Seeing the children fall in love with my books made me fall in love with them and Abigail all over again. It makes me want to go back to my grandmother’s farm, pick up a stick and have an amazing adventure once again. I want to tap into my imagination just like Abigail. Who’s with me? I’m sure I’m not alone as we all have a little ‘Abby’ inside of each and every one of us.
I had one goal when those airplane wheels touched down in Ontario early last week and that was to inspire as many kids as I could. Inspire them to dream, to read, to imagine the impossible and to have the confidence to believe in themselves. At the end of it all, I’m the one who’s leaving inspired… and I couldn’t ask for more.
